Descent

    The main setting I'm working on presently is the city of Descent. It is a Victorian-esque steampunk city miles beneath the surface of the planet of Vall. Lit perpetually by gas-lamps against the pressing dark, this city is the last remnant of humanity following a catastrophic alien invasion. It is a hive of crime, magic, intrigue, and horror. The dead do not stay dead, the Lord Mayor commands a corrupt police force against an equally corrupt Church. The people of the city (both human and Molemen) are just barely scraping by, living in terror of an enemy that seeks to exterminate them at any cost. It's a lovely place to live, considering the alternatives. Now, I'm not going to write down everything about Descent in one place, but rather spread it out over a series of articles to describe the magic system, lore of the world before the Long Walk, the somewhat extensive bestiary, the unfortunate history of the Molemen, and provide more detail on each until the setting is considered "complete." The setting is unlikely to ever be completed, but hopefully it will provide useful information to my players and provide interesting reading to anyone looking for stupid, inadvisable ideas for tabletop RPGs.
